Children’s Needs and Special Projects Coordinator Position Description

Summary

The Guardian ad Litem Foundation of Tampa Bay is a 501(c)(3) non-profit which provides advocacy and support to the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Foster children often need more help than the system can provide. We work in collaboration with the GAL Program to ensure that there is a volunteer advocate for every abused, abandoned, or neglected child in Pinellas and Pasco counties and also raise funds and resources to support the needs of children in foster care. The Children’s Needs and Special Projects Coordinator position will provide general administrative support as well as coordination for projects related to programs and services provided for children in the Sixth Judicial Circuit. This is an entry level part time position (20+ hours per week) with a flexible hours and work environment, although some nights and weekends may be required. Pay will be commiserate with experience, but between $10-$15/hour. Interested parties should email resume and cover letter to AmyF@galf6.org no later than January 8, 2016.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Special project coordination: This position will provide support & coordination for children’s normalcy activities & requests, annual projects such as our backpack distribution and holiday gift giving program, fundraising events, and other special projects as the need arises.
  • Data entry and management: Perform a variety of data management functions, including paper and electronic records management, setting up and managing spreadsheets and databases, producing reports, compiling information and sometimes analyzing results.
  • Business writing and editing: Perform word processing functions ranging from drafting emails and flyers to typing and editing reports, proposals and other business documents. You may create newsletter content, as well as update content on websites and social media. The ideal candidate should have strong written communication, editing and proofreading skills.

The above list of responsibilities is comprehensive but additional tasks may be assigned as needed. This position will be responsible for all other duties required.

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at one time
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Experience with Excel and mail merges will be essential.
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Event planning or logistical support skills
  • Knowledge of GiftWorks (or other donor management software), basic graphic design, QuickBooks and Constant Contact will be helpful
